Allow me to start out by saying that In my opinion that there is total and complete recovery from addiction. I do not believe the saying that once an addict always an addict. I’ve been addiction free for 28 years. Unfortunately, my Addiction Recovery did not come from experiencing a program. My family was not aware of the Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome available to us during my addiction. For me it finally came down to a choice. I had to chose between my marriage or my addiction. Fortunately, I was in a place where I made the best choice and choose my marriage. It took along time and a lot of work to overcome my addiction.
Locating the real cause for my addiction was key (and took the longest) but, after the root issue was discovered I began my Addiction Recovery. Like so many addicts I started out smoking pot and progressed from that point until I had been doing my drug of choice daily at the expense of everything and everybody around me. I lost valuable time with my oldest daughter and several years of a meaningful relationship with my family. During your addiction you don’t have friends, you might have your partying buddies and once an emergency comes up in your own life they are no where that can be found. Real friends walk together with you through all of it. My addiction included alcohol in addition to drugs and i also drank almost everyday. As soon as I made the choice to stop the addiction cycle within my life, it became a step at a time plus it was hard.
When I began coming out of my addictive lifestyle the things i seen in its wake was plenty of fear and insecurities within myself, broken relationships without any real idea the things i was going to do along with the rest of my entire life. I truly began one step at the same time and one day at the same time. During my recovery my brother was killed in a motorcycle accident and thru that grieving process happens when I picked to allow God in to help me to. It took several years but healing came, direction for my well being came and my marriage flourished. I completed Secondary School, graduated from College and also have started my very own business, which now includes a business that enables me to work from home by way of a blogging service.
Addiction Recovery Is Achievable. After the real cause of the addiction is identified and worked through in that case your major reason for the addiction is not one factor. For many who remain addicts throughout their lives it is because they have got not identified their root cause, are certainly not ready to work through their issues and enable healing to happen. Many want to remain a victim of their circumstance, not realizing just what the future would hold for them if they would let go of their victim mentality. Constructing a relationship with God was key for my recovery, it is through that relationship that true healing occurred.
My wish for drugs and alcohol is entirely gone. Through creating a relationship with God my self worth was restored, relationships were restored and i also discovered feelings of purpose for my life. Through my recovery I gained the skill set needed to become better wife, mother, friend and employee ( which now has become a company owner). My road to recovery may have taken a lot different route when we had known regarding the programs around to us. Programs for addiction recovery are valuable tools, not just to the addicts but to there families also.
Addiction Recovery and Programs. Although I ultimately gained freedom from my addictions a treatment program for addiction recovery would have been a great benefit to me. Programs offer support systems, counseling, aide in identifying your triggers. Programs offer tools that can be used throughout your daily life for a number of situations which you will face. Programs offer you the chance to escape your familiar surroundings which aides within your process of healing. After many years of addiction recovery I began vxktfb for Teen Challenge which is actually a faith-based addiction recovery program:.
First being a Development Director then as being a Program Director. While this is an excellent program there were some additional steps i wished to offer those seeking help, so my husband and I opened our own recovery program and for a long time we welcomed those seeking help into our home. They lived around for approximately per year and we dealt with them step-by-step, it had been one of the most rewarding experience I actually have ever had within my life.
We closed the program because we knew the time had come to maneuver in a different direction with this lives, but our company is always contacting those searching for help themselves or a family member searching for help for starters that they love. I am getting ready to start doing some volunteer work with a program within our area. Attempting to help addicts overcome their addiction is extremely rewarding work which is something which I will take part in for the rest of my life in one method or another. In the event you or someone inside your loved ones are suffering from addiction, research recovery programs and you may find the right fit for you. Allow yourselves to heal, allow yourself addiction recovery as well as lead a fulfilling life.
