July 2009
About a dozen
local 4H members, their families and other horse enthusiasts participated in
the July 18, 2009 Independence Farms Inc. School of Therapeutic Riding Benefit
Fun Horse Show at the Washington Co Fair Arena.
The weather and temperatures for the morning couldn’t have been any
better for July, they were actually cool and tolerable which made the horses
rearing to go. Events included the
following: Obstacle Course, rescue Race, Boot Race, Double Barrels, Barrels,
Relay Race, Dizzy Izzy Race, Egg Race, Pole Bending, Four in Line Poles and
Ride a Buck. Most of the classes were
broken out into 3 different age brackets, the 13 & under, the 14-64 and the
65 and older, others a combination of ages.
Cost was $10 to ride in all events.
A free Stick Horse Race was divided into two classes to begin with a 5
& under class, then one 6 to 9 but ended up with an adult class too. Much camaraderie was shared, laughter and
yelling rang out during the events, and fun was had by al!. Independence Farms wishes to thank the
following people, businesses and organizations for their cooperation in letting
us put on the event and for their donations:
Rosie Steel, Valley Vet, Gambinos, Short Stop, Casey’s, Kim Irwin, Terri
Gauby, Washington Pharmacy, Gauby’s Pumpkin Shed and the , Washington Co.
Fairboard. If we have missed anyone in
this list we duly apologize and if you inform us we can make corrections. There are many pictures of our contestants and
